Perhaps the following neo-Confuscian career advice seems germane: -
Tailor your career choices according to the following principles, to remain in harmony with the great Omnality of it all.
1) If you have no brains, no competence, and no initiative, then ally yourself with the largest organisation possible, maybe an Army, a Government, or a Major Corporation, or a Utilities giant. You may yet float to the top on a purely accidental basis!
2) If you have medium level qualities then join a medium sized enterprise, your talent may possibly get recognised.
3) If you have actual talents then join a small enterprise or go freelance or self employed. You will then have no significant idiots and no burocratic structure to blame, but instead the supreme satisfaction and reward for having done your best, against the prevailing hurricane of large scale organisational stupidity.
